Admiral: ‘Undersea efforts to direct the oil to the surface’ in effect; No answer to why underwater dispersants still in use


Allen: Reliable spill numbers hard to nail down, Associated Press, June 11, 2010:

The Obama administration's point man for the Gulf Coast oil spill said Friday that it will be at least July before BP has the tankers in place to capture the latest estimates for crude flowing from the blown well.

Even if undersea efforts to direct the oil to the surface succeed, it will take weeks to get the proper equipment in place to hold it, Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen said.
