ALERT: 13.3 ppm of COREXIT found INLAND, near Florida border — Chemist says tests show “toxic solvent” 2-butoxyethanol that “RUPTURES red blood cells” (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

Corexit found in Orange Beach Waters, WKRG Channel 5, August 19, 2010:

[Cotton Bayou, Ala. resident] Margaret Long... first got suspicious when she saw something in the water she had never seen before. She even took photographs, "Some times it's about the size of a half dollar. Some times it streams along and its like floating sand."

She got samples and sent them to chemist Bob Naman in Mobile whose tests results show 13.3 ppm of the chemical dispersant corexit. ...

"It concerns me," says Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon.

Bob Naman is the analytical chemist who performed the tests featured in WKRG's broadcast. He was interviewed by Washington's Blog for an August 24 report. Highlights include:

  • Naman found 2-butoxyethanol in the Cotton Bayou sample. [Ingredient in 'discontinued' Corexit 9527.]
  • Naman said found no propylene glycol, the main ingredient of Corexit 9500.
  • Naman said he went to Dauphin Island, Alabama last night and while there observed many 250-500 gallon barrels which were labeled Corexit 9527. Naman took pictures that he will soon be sharing.
  • Naman said he saw men applying the Corexit 9527 while he was in Dauphin Island and also in Bayou La Batre, Alabama.
  • Naman said the Corexit 9527 is being haphazardly sprayed at night and is impacting beach sands in a highly concentrated form.

Scientists oppose the use of dispersant chemicals in the Gulf of Mexico, MSNBC, July 16, 2010:

Corexit 9527A contains 2-BTE (2-butoxyethanol), a toxic solvent that ruptures red blood cells, causing hemolysis (bleeding) and liver and kidney damage (Johanson and Bowman, 1991, Nalco, 2010). Both Corexit dispersants contain petroleum solvents that mix with the crude oil mass and move through it, thus increasing the uptake of oil by organisms (NRC, 2005, Nalco, 2010). Signed by:

What the hell is wrong with the U.S.? Between BP and the politicians there are enough lies and BS to last generations. Send Hayward and Obama some bottled water and a crab dinner. I cannot believe the people of the U.S. are so helpless against this mess.

  • Pete

Why are there no criminal prosecutions of BP persons responsible? Why isn't anyone complicit in cover up, including Obama not held accountable? I can't get to Jacob Rothschild or Lloyd Blankfein. Nor Jamie Diamond or Warren Buffet/Tony Hayward/Hugh Grant of Monsanto. These guys are responsible for the death and destruction of lives and nature. Hanging all those rich bastards and the generals profiting from murder is too kind. Disrobe em, and tie them to a stake in the ground in the Mojave Desert. Film them as they die.

Nobody with access does squat. Do em before they do us all.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, through this Oil Spill Tragedy, is still the Mother of the Americas. Her miraculous appearance on a hillside just outside what is now Mexico City, in 1531, finally put an end to the horror of bloody human sacrifice, just as paganism and rebellion threatened a resurgence. Our veneration for her message can finally put an end to our sorrows. She told Juan Diego, an Indian convert, that she would manifest compassion for ALL who solicit her help. "Am I not here who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection?" She alone can exterminate the Serpent of Evil from our lives, because she is the Mother of the True God, "my dear Son, whom I love tenderly"; and she is our Mother also. It is surely the stated purpose of God, in many apparitions and revelations, that Mankind, through cruelty, greed, and injustice, will prove the total moral bankruptcy of any civilization so-called which turns its back as a whole on truth, decency, and honorable conduct among and between all sectors of society -- recognizing that the Holy Face of Jesus Christ, and His eyes of light, will expose and denounce all our hypocrisies, pretences, rationalizations, and carnal subterfuges. We have no cloak for our sin (John 15:22). But the story of the amazing cloak of Juan Diego gave us a beautiful portrait of Our Lady, through whose graces and prayers the love of God shows mercy towards us.

Many many thanks to floridaoilspilllaw for their work and for making this information available. Without sites like yours...this whole tragic mess will just be brushed under the sea.

ouhou is right. Notice around the world the Haarp induced weather to annihilate the worlds food supply? Or maybe you missed the strategically placed "oil spills" that are contaminating the drinking water supplies? The GOM is the sickest thing I have ever witnessed. [Notice the apathy of the feds again?] The time has passed for the American people to stand up against tyranny. It is now a time of survival. I dont know about anyone else....but i am getting really mad...you know the kind of pissed-off that you feel like you cant control. I certainly believe there is enough proof to charge and convict all those involved in high crimes and treasonous acts against the soveriegn of the united states. the gulf situation, was nothing more than a large petri dish of which the govt and its co-cinpsirators used to execute a falseflag or red-blue flage event upon innocent people. i am to the point that i dont give a damn who is elected come noveber, to me they are all crooks and need swing from the end of a yard-arm.

Very gutsy! I admire this woman for taking the action she has. Need more like this who seek out the facts rather than just casting about rumours to scare people. This should scare people. Great job to all involved.

Not enough people are awake to make a difference and the ones who ARE awake do very little or nothing at all.

    Armchair patriotism doesn't count.

I live in Niceville Fl and work in Destin Fl a block away from the beach. I have been smelling oil and having a sweet taste on my lips for months now,I cough all the time and I am just mad as hell!! We have to go about our daily lifes just to make ends meet so we can eat. I know a lot of people that have moved or are thinking of moving. I just want real reports so I can make an informed choices about my familys safty.Yes we are all screaming that this mess is toxic and it has fallen od deaf ears.I just want honesty if I have to leave so be it but I am not making enough money now to make a planed move but I will pick up and take what is important to me and walk away from everything else.

"I live in Niceville Fl and work in Destin Fl a block away from the beach. I have been smelling oil and having a sweet taste on my lips for months now,I cough all the time and I am just mad as hell!! "

It's time to translate this anger into action. BP and the criminals running our "government" need to stand trial for this massive crime against our country.

In the meantime, get the heck out of there! There's a good chance this exposure is going to cause you real, possibly deadly, physical problems down the road....

"I dont know about anyone else….but i am getting really mad…you know the kind of pissed-off that you feel like you cant control. I certainly believe there is enough proof to charge and convict all those involved in high crimes and treasonous acts against the sovereign of the united states."

There is more than enough evidence to bring this to a grand jury. BP, and the politicians protecting them, absolutely must pay for this crime.

  • Read the last several articles about the oil spill at: http://www.examiner.com/republican-in-baton-rouge/al-landry.

Then do something by passing the word along and start making demands.

2-butoxyethanol is a very common water soluble solvent and used in a large number of household and commercial cleaners and other common products. It's been in use for something like 50 years that I can recall.

It is commonly sold under the commercial name of Butyl Cellosolve for all sorts of uses (even cosmetics).

You most likely have it in your own home somewhere.

  • ghana

    Hey Sid,

Is it in say... coffee creamer, kosher sea salt, baby formula? Don't be a Richard Noggin and try and play off this destruction as something not happening. If you don't live down here... STFU!

  • Pappadave

Nonsense is STILL nonsense, no matter HOW much you greenie weinies would like to make it otherwise. The amount of crude oil spilled by BP is the relative equivalent of someone spilling a can of beer on the 50-yard line in the Superdome! In other words, it's NOTHING.

  • KM

It is way past lawsuits, just start shooting them.

The government and big business have been complicit in cover-ups and hiding the truth for centuries in order to line their pockets. The truth always comes out, after it's too late. Unfortunately we have not seen the worst in all of this. This will definitely become a global problem as the rains bring down all the toxins from this disaster. I believe I am already seeing the results in Ohio. It is too early for the trees to turn. A few trees in my area are nearly completely bare already. Every type of vegetation has some type of damage from the weeds to the trees. It starts out as dots/specks and eventually eats through the vegetation. They are experiencing the same in Alabama. I have already taken action by contacting the EPA and environmental labs. Some are testing for the effects of the dispersants in their area. I couldn't afford the testing on my own but am tryig to find out whatever I can. I have contacted a few organizations and congressmen. The only response I've recieved is from the Ohio EPA. They said they couldn't help.

SICK! But how did I contribute to this farce this week?? I drove 200 or 300 miles. What are we ALL to do?? Shall we return to my grandparents' horse and buggy days OR develop eco compatible mass transportation??? Oil has peaked!! We need to evolve to a post-oil mind set.
