Ankle-deep oil sludge in Florida

Locals cast eye westward, ‘sitting here waiting’ for oil, Northwest Florida Daily News, June 10, 2010:

With an ankle-deep sludge coming ashore at the Florida-Alabama line and tar balls washing into the Pensacola Pass, an oil spill that for months seemed like a bad dream became reality this week for Northwest Florida.

“Sunday you could smell the diesel smell, and the water had a metallic taste that in 45 years of surfing I had never tasted before,” she said. “I was told it’ the dispersant.” …
