WGNO ABC 26 out of New Orleans is reporting today, "Plaquemines Parish Inland Waterways Strike Force found hundreds of thousands of dead fish at Bayou Chaland (west side of Mississippi River) on Friday, September 10, 2010."
"Since the BP Oil Spill, the area has been heavily impacted and oil is visible in some of these pictures [photos not yet available]. The dead fish include pogies, redfish, drum, crabs, shrimp, and freshwater eel," WGNO continues.
The report quotes Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser who said, "We can't continue to see these fish kills. We need some additional tests to find out why these fish are dying in large numbers.
The report notes, "The fish kill was reported to LA Wildlife & Fisheries and the cause has not yet been determined."
