Cleanup workers: "Constant wave" of weathered oil washing up near Mississippi delta -- "Rising slowly like a poisonous Phoenix"

Questions the Press Needs to Ask About the Gulf Oil Disaster, NRDC's Rocky Kistner, January 15, 2011:

Recently, I took a freezing boat ride out to the coast of the Mississippi delta and found tar balls still littering the beaches.

According to cleanup workers out there, there's a constant wave of these weathered oil pieces washing in. They didn't expect it to go away anytime soon.

Truth is, no one knows how much oil is buried on the ocean floor, sunk by chemical dispersants and rising slowly like a poisonous Phoenix.

How do you know it is Deepwater Horizon oil? How do you know it's dispersed oil rising? It's comments like this that excite the media but have no scientific basis.

Its very unlikely to be dispersed oil, which will not coalesce into weathered lumps. If it is Deepwater Horizon oil its far mnore likely to have been swilling around for a few months, unseen till it neaches.

Test it then copme back to us with facts not unfounded speculation.
