“Most Concerning”: Chrysene found in waters off Perdido Key, Florida — Effects include “increased risk of cancer, chromosomal aberrations, genetic damage”

Chrysene Found in Water Near Beach at Perdido Key, Florida, via Michelle Nix and Cellect Opflex, March 10, 2011:

64.3 ug/kg of Chrysene found in WATER sample taken February 18th, 2011 outside of Eden Condominiums, Pensacola, FL

President of Massachusetts-based Geo Labs, Dave Kahler:

As we have now built a database of samples from Venice, LA to Pensacola, Florida utilizing EPA testing protocols, this is the first time we have detected Chrysene which is most concerning as it is showing up in the water close to the beaches in Perdido Key, Florida.

Chrysene produced carcinomas and malignant lymphoma in mice after intraperitoneal injection and skin carcinomas in mice following dermal exposure. Chrysene produced chromosomal abnormalities in hamsters and mouse germ cells after gavage exposure, positive responses in bacterial gene mutation assays and transformed mammalian cells exposed in culture. …

Chrysene is a component of mixtures that have been associated with human cancer.”

Dr. William Sawyer, Toxicologist:

Health consequences of dermal contact related to weathered BP crude is probably that of probable human carcinogens chrysene and benzo[b]fluoranthene that have been measured predominantly throughout the samples tested.

Health effects of those two compounds are increased risk of cancer, chromosomal aberrations, genetic damage.

It is insidious, latent response… that is a person that’s been chronically exposed may have no adverse effects for several years until malignancy develops.

Thanks Dr Sawyer for this highly important information. Can you give us more details? For example:
How many weeks or months has your sampling been taking place?
Are the samples showing less or more toxins and carcinogens than earlier?
Are signs of corexit and dispersants increasing or decreasing during this time period?
How are the sites to be tested selected?
Are the samples taken from the same places each time?

  • Still trying to belittle the magnitude of the BP disaster, aren’t you?

Paid trolls are always irritants and it gives you away. Don’t try to cover your motives with questions. You stand out like a blister on a mannequins nose.

I do not try to belittle the disaster, but my motive is to get more evidence published rather than cause the situation to be belittled by lack of apparent reserch showing how bad it is. The more evidence we can get, the more convinced many people will be and the more likely the ”powers that be” will take action. Remember that problems are much more obvioius to those around the Gulf. I am not near the Gulf, and the extent of neglect of the Gulf sufferers is amazing and difficult to believe of such a great country like America. Why would anyone want to pay me for this? No one pays me!

  • You said, “Why would anyone want to pay me for this?…”

  • The truth is that BP knows that a cancer tsunami is fast approaching, and their offices probably resemble a bees’ hive now — after its been toppled.

The ‘big boys’ must be falling all over themselves in an effort to hide their crimes; grabbing important papers for the shredder, running the papers through, deleting cookies from their computers, burying their cell phones…

And although the world is large, there is no place on this Earth where BP can hide successfully. They are criminals and must pay the price: *Imprisonment* for them and *compensation* for the worlds’ victims.

Purposeful negligence for profit is a crime, especially as they knew an explosion could happen — were warned that it would happen. But BP, in its impossible to satiate goal for more-and-more profit shouted…

    Go-go-go! Faster-faster-faster!

Yes they knew what would happen with a major blowout and think tanks worked out plans years in advance, does anyone think the Gov. got caught with their pants down ? Pre positioning millions of Plastic Coffins, A few weeks after the well blew a new cancer report came out … Published: May 5, 2010
41 percent of Americans will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives … http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/06/opinion/06kristof.html?_r=2&scp=1&sq=kristoff%20cancer%20report&st=cse

Who wants to bet that most of these will be in the Gulf region ! And “Noting that 300 contaminants have been detected in umbilical cord blood of newborn babies”

Do you think there will be a military takeover of the Gulf situation soon? Past Govenor Jesse Ventura is collecting evidence for conspiracies, somewhat convincingly. See the link below. You can add comments and give evidence.

  • I find it heart breaking what has been done to all the families and communities that have relied on the fishing industry to sustain themselves~ You have my thoughts and prayers.

Why do these activist put up these kind of results? This number isn’t alarming.
Was this one sample or many?
what kind of QA was performed?
What was the EPA test performed? It doesn’t look like a good test . there are no numbers to compare to..

Was any sort of plastic involved in the collection?

  • tiredofoil

I just googled this Opflex solutions. It’s a plastic material, a foam?
this material by itself could give off chrysene?

  • Whilst everyone is debating – people are dying or sick – government need to get in there and sort the damn problem out asap!
