Alaska didn't see a dramatic impact on its fisheries following the Exxon Valdez spill until four years later when the herring fishery collapsed, and there's been a 22-year downward trend of its salmon fisheries there.
That tells us even when we no longer see the oil, it's impact will likely continue for years, and even generations, to come.
