EPA “BP Spill” testing across Gulf finds highest amount of heavy metal in Florida bays — Raises “Level of Concern” (Lab Results)

EPA Response to BP Spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Coastal Sediment Sampling:

EPA's sediment samples collected September 18-26, 2010 along the Gulf coast found three sample with vanadium in exceedance of chronic aquatic benchmarks.

Impact: Above EPA risk-based guidelines or state water quality standards for chronic exposure... might impact the health, growth or reproductive activity of aquatic life if exposed for an extended period of time.

Sample NCA10-1301-C-SD-09242010:

  • Location: Apalachicola Bay, FL
  • Sample Date: September 24, 2010

Why is Vanadium a problem? According to Food Quality News:

The UK Food Standard Agency's Expert Group on Vitamins and Minerals (EVM) reached a similar opinion in 2003, determining overexposure to vanadium could cause cramps, loosened stools, 'green tongue' as well as fatigue and lethargy.

In vivo studies indicate vanadium could adversely affect male and female reproduction as well as infant development.

HOW DO YOU THINK PEOPLE PAY FOR WEBSITES? THESE ADS HELP PAY FOR TIME AND EFFORT. WHAT HAS YOUR SORRY ASSES DONE FOR ANY OF US HERE? I LITERALLY HATE PEOPLE WHO SIT ON THE SIDELINES AND SAY DUMB SHIT. DON'T YOU HAVE A GAME TO WATCH OR SOMETHING TO BUY? HOW DARE YOU MAKE FUN OF ANYTHING RELATED TO THE GOM!!! [I WILL GO AND PUT OUT THE BUCKETS OF CLEAN WATER AND FOOD FOR THE REMAINING LAND ANIMALS. WHAT WILL YOU DO TODAY?]

  • Morocco Bama

Those ads are a large part of the reason for the spill, you fool.

  • FishHeadfromFL

What does it matter about the ads now? The "spill," more accurately called the continuing gusher, has destroyed my home and made it a toxic dump. I'm too poor to move. Paradise has been destroyed. Now, that's reality.

  • xdrfox

Portable containment berms? ... Will that give you clean air and clean rain too ?

  • Morocco Bama

I don't care about the ads. They're satirically ironic, that's all.

How about a permanent, world wide ban on offshore drilling? Would you all be willing to support that? Last time I checked, the majority of the Gulf Coast Residents still supported drilling in the Gulf.....just safer drilling.....as if there is such a thing as safe drilling. Gulf Coast residents, with a minority of exceptions, even after this huge shit that was taken on their heads, still prefer to eat where Big Oil shits, That's pathetic.

  • well now I KNOW

    this is a BP website

What would be the point of BP having a website that makes itself look really bad? I'd love to know the answer to that.

I personally have been uncomfortable with this website for a long time. Any website that does not have a real person's opinions recorded within it makes me wonder. Whoever runs this site has had plenty of time to give us some personal feedback , but instead it's always a clip of something, often taken out of context, leading to a conclusion that is meant to elicit fear.

I have my own website and anyone can look up my contact info through whois.

This site is secret- we can't find any contact other than the address in providence Utah, which is a web hosting site, to my knowledge. Why the secrecy? I use my own name here. If you've got nothing to hide then use your own name- all of you.

I remember leading up to the last presidential election there was an 'Obama is the antichrist' website that wrote all sorts of fear-mongering stuff. The blog author said he was just a caring Christian. Well I caught the person in a totally outrageous made-up story one day and that was it. The website shut down immediately. The game was up.

All I can say, is be wary of everything you read. Do your own research before you jump to conclusions. I think some of the info here has been used deliberately to elicit fear. That being said, I think things are very dire for many many folks in the Gulf and I think the environment is unhealthy. But google The Cult of Reason and the French Revolution. There are forces out there that are deliberately trying to foment fear and instigate revolution. We could be being set up. So just do your own research and try to rise above the negativity. That's the way to make progress- not fear-mongering.

  • up the East coast

Anytime I tried to post anything about the effective Danish civilian resistance and underground movement during the occupation of Denmark in WWII, this site blocks me outright. Maybe it's the 4 letter N word?...and now we have the elections sigh..hmmmmm.

  • Morocco Bama

Very well said, maryanne. I agree with everything you said except giving my "real life" name. The ideas and observations are what matters, not the personalities.
