Feds probe post-Katrina work in Plaquemines Parish, Associated Press, March 25, 2011:
Officials say federal investigators are looking into contracts Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser approved after he took office in 2007.
On Thursday, Michael L. Mullin, an assistant parish attorney, said the parish government received a subpoena seeking documents. He said the parish would cooperate with investigators, but he declined further comment. Nungesser, who entered the national spotlight last year during the BP oil spill with his vocal criticism of the Obama administration, declined to comment.
It was not clear what the Justice Department was looking into, but members of the parish council said the federal probe was linked to court proceedings by parish council officials against Nungesser and a state legislative auditor's report last year critical of Nungesser. ...
