No surprise Feinberg is not independent, Fox 10, February 3, 2011:

A federal judge in New Orleans ruled that Feinberg is "not" independent from BP and the judge ordered Feinberg to stop telling claimants that he is.

FOX10 News asked Feinberg when he was in Bayou La Batre if he worked for BP. He told us no. ...

Feinberg has made the "independent" claim ever since he was named to take over the $20 billion fund, even though his firm was paid more than $800,000 a month by BP through mid-January.

In the ruling, the judge said Feinberg must clearly disclose, in all communications, that's he's acting for and on behalf of the oil giant.

At 2:00 minutes in to the televised portion of the report Feinberg refuses to disclose the additional PERSONAL compensation he's receiving from BP, "That's private information."
