Today's Press-Register described scientists as "intrigued" and "puzzled" by the brown residue covering the ocean floor in areas just offshore stretching from Florida to Mississippi.
The experts' own words went a bit further:
"It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen."
"Unprecedented [chemical signature]."
"Never seen anything quite like it."
"If I had a nickel for everything about this spill that’s never been seen before."
"A lot of unusual things are going to be happening."
Other recent sightings of "unusual" material in Gulf waters include:
- Two officials from different Florida counties report “what looks like ‘a congealed GLOB of VASELINE’ that is HOVERING just offshore”
- “Purple looking jelly stuff, three feet thick, floating all over, as wide as a football field” says former BP cleanup worker
- Head of Navy Mabus tours Gulf, shocked by amount of oil: “Wow, what are we in sir?” — Fisherman responds “Kind of looks like a UFO underwater, don’t it?”
