Near Fishkill: Local INLAND strike force collects 26,375 gallons of oil/water from bay & 10,000+ bags of tar balls and crude

Massive fishkill occured in Bayou Chaland while 2,700 bags if tarballs were recently collected at Pass Chaland

Oil Continues To Plague Plaquemines Marshlands, WGNO ABC26 News, September 15, 2010 at 11:30 p.m. EDT:


Thousands of gallons of oil continue to wash into inland waterways from oil infested marshlands. Over the past seven days the Plaquemines Parish Inland Waterways Strike Force, under the direction of Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, has collected 26,375 gallons of oil/water in Bay Jimmy.

President Nungesser also says oily waste and tar balls continue to be a problem with teams collecting 3,004 bags of oily waste from the beach at South East Pass, 4,306 bags of oily waste from the beach at South West Pass and 2,699 bags of Tar Balls from the beach at Pass Chaland.
