Gulf Residents Roar With Awareness Events Across The Country Today, Project Gulf Impact, November 20th, 2010:
Grand Isle, 1pm - 7pm: Clean Gulf will be hosting The Rally For The Truth. ” The objective of the event is to meet with Gulf Coast Residents and present our case, regarding the health of our people, the impact on our communities, etc. We want to compile a “history” of our feelings, experiences, beliefs, whatever they may be, since the oil spill. It is not a “bash BP and/or the govt. event”, it is a RALLY FOR THE PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO TELL THEIR TRUTHS,” explains event organizer, Karen Hopkins.
New Orleans, 2pm - 6pm: Over in the Big Easy, The Krewe of Dead Pelicans is having CarnivOil, the Official 2nd Procession of the Krewe of Dead Pelicans. According to their page, “This is a do it yourself affair based on the traditional New Orleans Second line parade most often associated with funerals, but frequently held to draw attention to other events which the community wishes to publicize and or distinguish. There will be a Gulf Oil Spill depiction- A good size bolt of black fabric will represent the long Oil Spill train which will flow from the Gulf’s coffin trailing the ground so that it flows under the “sea” blue Katrina tarps as the procession moves out. Train bearers are needed to carry and undulate the train for best results. Train bearers should be dressed in black head to toe. Victorian Funeral garb for best effect but any black top and bottom will do. Bone Gang people would also do nicely here.”
Seattle, 3pm: Project Gulf Impact’s event, being held in Seattle, Washington, will be a first of it’s kind exhibition. Combining speakers, four separate interactive walk through exhibits and never before seen footage, it will be a crash course in the true horror of what is going on in the Gulf. It will be a must see for those who want to learn everything about what is happening in the Gulf. People will be able to hear first hand accounts, view photographs, informational booths, video, and interact directly with those who know exactly what is going on.
