Coast Guard reports a mile-long oil sheen.
Platform on fire.
Mariner Energy says last month the platform was producing up to 1,400 barrels of oil a day.
This should not burn for more then a few hours and there should be no subsurface oil getting into the Gulf, IF it was a problem on deck and not from below. Cross our fingers that it was not a well pressure related anomaly !
