Spill-damage trawl accidentally drowns dolphins, AP, April 2, 2011:
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said federal scientists catching fish to test for possible damage from last April’s Gulf of Mexico oil spill accidentally drowned three dolphins.
Spokeswoman Connie Barclay said the pantropical spotted dolphins were caught Wednesday from a trawl off the research ship Pisces...
She said the trawl was below 325 feet, with a target depth of 2,300 feet.
The carcasses were brought to the NOAA Fisheries laboratory in Pascagoula for analysis.
