Official: 100 local fisherman say “NO WAY” massive fish kills from just low oxygen — “ALL areas happen to have HEAVY OIL”

Third fish kill reported in Plaquemines Parish, Fox 8 New Orleans, September 19, 2010 at 7:51 p.m. EDT:

Excerpts

"I hope the state wildlife is right, I hope the dead fish is just oxygen. I got 100 fishermen here say no way Jose, they been here their whole life and never seen so many species (of fish) in so many different areas, and is it a coincidence that all of those areas happen to have heavy oil," said Nungesser. ...

"Can anybody look the American people in the eye and say it absolutely has nothing to do with dispersants, the oil, or the breakdown of the oil, or does anybody care? I mean somebody has to be as upset as I am huh," said Nungesser

Can anybody look the American people in the eye? Apparently not:

"I hope the state wildlife is right, I hope the dead fish is just oxygen. I got 100 fishermen here say no way Jose, they been here their whole life and never seen so many species (of fish) in so many different areas, and is it a coincidence that all of those areas happen to have heavy oil," said Nungesser.

"We're coming to take samples of the fish and to scrape the fish and see if there's any oil on the fish," said Christina Cosich Young, Plaquemines Parish Attorney.

Young says they've also hired an expert out of Alaska who's worked on the Exxon Valdez spill to help get a grip on what's really going on.

"And he's coming down and just testing everything for oil, and we've taken oil samples, and sediment samples," said Young.

All this to document damages for the states lawsuit against BP, filed by the Plaquemines Parish District Attorney's office.

"And most of the proceeds that come from the lawsuit will actually be sent back to Wild Life and Fisheries so they can rehabilitate and restore all the habitats and wild life," said Young.

Meanwhile, Billy Nungesser is still waiting on more federal support, and more proper testing.

"Can anybody look the American people in the eye and say it absolutely has nothing to do with dispersants, the oil, or the breakdown of the oil, or does anybody care? I mean somebody has to be as upset as I am huh," said Nungesser

That is a flat out lie! Due to the large number of storms so far this season tides have been above normal from the Carolinas to the southern tip of Texas! Those fish didn't need to move to the Gulf. The Gulf moves to them and brings tide back and forth not the other way around! Yes, I have lived on or near the Gulf for 35 years and I say the State rep. is a liar! The mother phuckers are killing EVERYTHING!

  • I believe you Ghana.

Olivia Watkins with the LA Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries, has tarnished her reputation for decades to come. You can't lie about this ongoing disaster -- about its significance relating to the fishkills, about the near death of that body of water and its beautiful creatures, and expect to get away with it.

History will remember the words of all who deny what is before us, and especially the fisherman and their families.
