Oil disaster may be to blame for recent manatee deaths in Gulf says expert

Manatees in Mobile Bay, Pascagoula River die in cold weather, Sun Herald, December 28, 2010:

It’s unusual to see two manatee deaths in three days from the same general area, [Moby Solangi, director of the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies in Gulfport, MS] said.

“There are just so many unknowns,” Solangi said. The animals, which he said are “extremely endangered,” could have been affected by the environmental challenges following the BP Gulf oil spill.

The distance factor is beginning to narrow.

    Yes, Uncle Numb,
Geology and Geography I was blessed to get at UNM.
Winds carry a LOT of solid material, Bacterial colonies on dust motes, leaf molds, entire red deserts swept from Africa up into
Europe, and tropical cross-Atlantic African soils and microbes
carried to the Americas in hurricane season.
There have been more reports of Agricultural damage, and wildland trees and bees and bird kills. arrggh!
We are OK in the southern Rockies until, I say Until, that strong
hurricane or trop depression carries the Gulf Air up the
Rio Grande Valley in usually late summer.
We are normally so dry here that we say we can literally smell
the ocean when any smidgen of humidity blows through.
Now, Hurricane MORT will bring us Corexit Methane Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Therapy.
Gaia, the Earth-Mother, demands the recycling of these human carcasses back into the primordial ooze...

  • Jack:

I'm so frightened that I got my face buried in my apron. There ain't gonna be no potato soup for the family tonight! I'm in hiding now that I done read your words, so, I got me some of them onions I planned to put in my soup, and I've done taken my kn*fe and cut a cross on'em -- all for protection.

When you said, "Gaia, the Earth-Mother, demands the recycling of these human carcasses back into the primordial ooze..." done got me to thinking. I know what I gotta do, but there ain't no other way to save myself from Gaia, the Earth-Mother -- but go in prayer to God, and tell on her!

And, I'm gonna implore God to make her leave us alone. I ain't no sissy girl, but I'm just hiding so's she'll just blow over, or tighten up below. We don't need no more challenges. I'm gonna tattletale on her because God needs to know too!

Something strange is going on here. Ohhhhhh. Right now as I make these utterances, I'm chilled-to-the-bone, and my eyes are hurting, and I got tears flowing! But I ain't crying. Nosirree! I'm probably dying right now! Gaia's trying to k*ll me for certain so I gotta protect myself. OH my goodness. My eyes crying when I ain't must be a sympton of impending death.

Guess I better stuff my face back into my apron and let all them sliced onions protect me.
