"May spark a whole new debate": Scientist "astonished" that he found so much crude -- Questions whether NOAA "dramatically understated" amount of oil in Gulf (VIDEO)

Government estimates of oil in Gulf may miss mark, Fox 8 New Orleans, October 25, 2010:

Transcript Excerpts

Louisiana University scientists believe the government may have dramatically understated how much oil spilled into the Gulf of Mexico...

On a dock in Cocodrie, Paul Sammarco unfurls a 15-foot long piece of fabric, a highly absorbent cotton-like material, which may spark a whole new debate over how much oil remained in the Gulf of Mexico this summer.

Dr. Sammarco and a team from the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON)  sampled waters two months after BP plugged its crippled well.

He was astonished at what he found...

[A]n underwater video shot by a LUMCON researcher weeks after the spill showed globs of oil were visible in the water column with the naked eye. ...

"My feeling is that it's an underestimate of what was actually there." ...

If a canister happened to have captured one of the globs, he notes the NOAA estimates would have skyrocketed.

It had better spark a debate. It ought to spark a fucking lynch mob.

It will spark nothing. It's the heart of College Football Season. The dolts are too distracted getting their own to care about the grim reaper at their door.

What a sad lot, they are. Barely sentient, is what they are, and that's being generous.

There is no spark in America! They tested the waters in the 60's killing movement leaders and Peace Lovers in the 70's. American's sat like the bitches they are and let their neighbor's kids get killed. Doing it again today... yes, I am vocal and march against WAR! It's the reason our Gulf is dying! Like father like daughter and like mother like son.

Why the govenors and legislators of these 4 Gulf states are still walking around freely speaks volumes about the current level and degree of cowardice in this country. Am I to believe that Nuss in LA can't get his county Sheriff and D A to file charges against these criminals and arrest them? B.S. the evidence is there, but the will is extinguished!

  • Wow what a bunch of whiney Downers. It will spark me. It has sparked me from the very beginning and I have taken great time and effort to be a voice, and advocate to my elected public servants. So get off your butts and do something other than encouraging people to give up and throw a pitty party, because all you two have done is give marching orders to looserville.

Thanks Florida Oil Spill Law for keeping on top of this mess. I personally, appreciate all of your hard work and do my best to do your effort justice by adding to it with efforts of my own.

is Osama Bin Laden in America now? Is continuing spraying of dispersant a terrorist attack? if you consider that we are told that about one third of the folk living along the coast who have been sick and could have their lives shortened by maybe ten years each, all this would add to more loss of life than on 9/11. Why is there no government action being taken? BP was not elected to govern the USA.

Hey, Sister, take a chill pill, will ya. Obviously some do care about the Gulf, The Environment and the Truth, but the point is the majority have neither the capacity nor the inclination to give a rat's ass, and a few people who want to battle this by pleading and begging to a so-called "elected" official is beyond absurd at this point.

Also, the GOM disaster is just one of a myriad of symptoms of a destructive system that is rotten to the core. Would you be willing to confront the very base issue that's at the root of it all, Sister? The fact that you believe pleading to "elected" officials will somehow mitigate this one crisis among many crises tells me you are extremely naive about what would be required to save humanity, and save the planet and universe from humanity's current trajectory.

I'm not whining, Sister. Merely observing and commenting on those observations. Also, I have no pity, nor would I seek any pity. Pity solves nothing. I do have empathy and compassion for those who suffer needlessly through no direct fault of their own, but many of the people on the Gulf Coast have been their own worst enemy by selling themselves and their once beautiful community down the river for a pocket full of disease and despair disguised as gold.

Good luck with your letter writing campaign. I'm sure Haley "Mississippi Burning" Barbour will be responsive to your demands. He seems like a nice enough fella, doesn't he?

Finally I see that the comments reflect my own notions - it is time for the victims to get mad, to fight. Why in the Hell should they (we) put up with the crap from the bureaucrats. Who would believe that the French have more in the way of balls than an American.

Morocco, might you share with us your experiences there in the gulf on the forum that this web site set up?

I would encourage others of you there in the gulf to take advantage of the forum they set up and tell your story. Your stories need to be told, those of the loved ones you lost. If you can only speak of the environment and the impact you are seeing, please by all means do.

Or could there still be oil spilling into the Gulf ? Sure we will find many truths "AFTER THE ELECTIONS" ! I notice NO one in WASHINGTON has been in the lead to help these folks in the Gulf !

  • Billy Dale

I believe there is oil still spilling, especially after seeing this most disturbing report:

What does it mean to say "we will find out many truths after the elections?" Do you think that suddenly the Corporate State will come clean, confess and prostrate itself before us? This site is one of a handful that are providing an alternative accounting of what is going on in the Gulf Coast region and in the Gulf of Mexico. That will still be the same "after the elections."

HOW MANY OF YOU GET IT!!! It is time for fire under a sheriff and DA's ASS! Go to their house with 10,000 people birdflew and phuck the damn letters or dressing up to the nines as Biscuit suggested; unless you're carrying a gilded pitch fork and ax and visiting their sanctuaries! Like the gay community struck fear in the hearts of the MORONS in Utah!

I would happily lead the charge and sacrifice it all to end this global plague of death dealers! Guess who would be beside me and behind me; not you birdflew... and that is the point... no spark, no heart, no passion for the lives of our friends, families, neighbors, or planet. They aren't reading letters. They are watching them fill planes and skiffs with COREXIT; coming out of an orifice near you soon!

I am ready for the call from my countrymen and women in these infected States and I am weening myself off of these Petro/Chem scum day by day; from their crooked banks to their unhealthy food substitutes.

Your rights... unalienable rights are guaranteed protected by you and your SHERIFF who is elected to serve the people! Watch this video link birdflew http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaEKB8pU2Tw&feature=&p=DB0A5E9EE69C1E46&index=0&playnext=1 and anyone else and see how YOU GET IT DONE! Then come talk shit! It seems I'll have to wait until this winter when the tides drive this indescribable PHUCKING nightmare to the Texas shores.

Hear me now you soulless, OIL FILLED, MOTHER PHUCKERS I will be the wall IN TEXAS that crumbles down on top of you and covers you in DUST!
