Bless your hearts, BP has ruined the shrimping industry in the north GOM.
Ocean doesn't smell like the ocean, I have been telling people this since July here. Now there appears to be no minerals it it as before, to clean looking like a fresh water stream in the mountains. This is when it is void of the latex milky look when the oil is in it. Oil, Water, Sand, and Beaches ... http://beforeitsnews.com/story/116/096/
soozla: Yes "... BP has ruined the shrimping industry..." and everything else that belonged to the people.

IMHO, the ocean does not smell like an ocean because most of the marine mammals are dead. Dead whales, dolphins, fish, crab, lobsters.... have been metabolized by the corexit -- as well as the their fishy breath of life, usually smelled in and around the water.
I know back in July the river did smell like rotting death from the stench !
It's heartbreaking. Growing up, we used to revel in that salty-brine smell when it would come inland on the breeze. "Smell that!?" We'd say to each other, just sniffing away. It's gone. Life as I knew it for nearly half a century is gone. I can't even articulate the level of rage.
