Workers clean oil from Perdido Pass jetties, Press-Register, September 10, 2010:

Crews cleaned oil from the Perdido Pass jetties Thursday, but the work was to remove residual material in the rocks and not the result of recent pollution, officials said. ...

Phillip West, Orange Beach coastal planner, said the work is part of efforts to remove oil that may have coated the rocks along the jetty, which extends into the Gulf at the pass between Romar Beach and Perdido Key.

“They’ve had the plan to pressure wash the jetties with hot water,” he said. “It’s a pretty standard procedure to get rid of the residual oil.”
