Just when I think I've heard it all and it can't get any more insane....

How can you tell which tar balls are non-toxic? Do they have little stickers on them "Certified non-toxic by BP"?

These people need to be forced to Eat Tar Balls. Any other time in Human History, the people had enough dignity to Punish Evil, today they just worship it.

  • Jean

It's too difficult to remove the offshore tar mats (PNJ article) without impacting the beach--in other words, without disturbing the tourists who are busy swimming in toxic water, digging in the sand, and playing with tar balls; before heading off to eat delicious Gulf seafood.

  • Its me

Our local paper has this story and I was at an absolute loss of words when I read it. And there are people who live here in the panhandle that actually believe this. Today there was a big article about locals enjoying raw oysters and how plump and tasty they are right now. Total denial.

'Radiation is good for you,' says Ann Coulter as she weighs in on Japan's nuclear crisis

Conservative maverick Ann Coulter has poured scorn on growing fears over the fallout from Japan’s nuclear crisis by claiming that ‘radiation is good for you.’

With her bizarre outburst, Coulter became the latest celebrity to cause a stir over controversial remarks on the disaster in Japan.

The right wing commentator was attempting to quell concern that a radiation plume was due to hit America’s West Coast today after travelling 5,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean from the damaged reactor at Fukishima.

Law of Logical Argument: Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.
Following that logic, BP is either a bunch of compulsive liars or complete morons. I think they are testing their Information Age IQ test. They make insanely idiotic statements to see if we are dumb enough to believe it. Nevermind the fat that it is showing their own ignorance. I bet they are even starting to believe their own lies.

  • JEC

And, of course, it is so difficult to prove a person is suffering toxic affect of the oil--BP feels perfectly fine in offering medical advice! Where did BP officials get their medical degrees??? Can you say malpractice?

and they are faking it now...

Yes,and the last NOAA tests, posted in 2010-only show tests on six(6!) of each type of shrimp..oh and 4 croakers. Do you think the lack of numbers MIGHT affect the results? Were the samples taken in same place, same time?

Who the hell is BP?? DO they think they're the fucking FDA now?? (they're not much better)

Thanks BP, thanks for letting us know it's safe. I'm sure if the food and water was toxic you'd be so eager to tell us.

Anyone who would even CONSIDER believing a word to come from the mouth of the gov, FDA, EPA or BP deserves whatever comes their way.. I'm sorry, but ignorance is not an excuse when it comes to things like this.. In fact, the phrase "ignorance is not an excuse" is reserved ONLY for situations of this caliber.

  • Dragonslayer

Sounds like BP quackery to me!! Doctor BP is gonna make it ok everyone; just keep on dying..

  • I think it is reasonably safe to say, that if during, and after the spill, whales, dolphins, fish, birds died from exposure to both oil and corexit, that it is toxit, and if they continue to spray corexit, then the waters are still toxit. Either way, the water is toxit. Here we have a body of water, as a kid the trout well over a foot long, now every summer, I see the old men pull out fish less the length of their hands. Why, cuz the water is toxit, and the company dumping junk into it gets a pass. This double talk is the same jazz you would hear if Al Capone was on trial. His lawyer would come up with one motion after another, to get this, that and the other thing dismiss. Finally, when the case is whittled down, they try to have the complete case dismssed. BP cut a deal with Obama, and so they WILL get off scott free. You just wait and see.

  • Hey guys I left this on another section. It feels so good being American. Reward those who don't deserve it and punish the people who do. WTF

I remember well my boss, the owner of Global Diving and Salvage sternly warning me NOT to touch tarballs, they are highly toxic, he said. (Greys Harbour Bunker C spill early 90s)
I saved on ein a bag and took it home, it smelled really really bad when I opened it a couple times. It was thrown out in a move by accident. Wonder what it smells like today, probably the same.
